Job Description

Are you passionate about ensuring that every firefighter has the necessary tools and resources to save lives and protect our community? Brevard County Fire Rescue is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to become our Equipment and Supply Coordinator.

As the backbone of our operational efficiency, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining, procuring, and organizing essential equipment and supplies critical to our firefighting teams. From fire suppression gear to advanced life support equipment, your expertise will directly impact our ability to respond effectively to emergencies and safeguard the lives of our citizens.


Under the general supervision of the Logistics Manager, performs experienced office and clerical work in the acquisition, inventory and distribution of equipment and supplies for the Fire Rescue Department.

Responsible for preparing supply orders by processing supply, equipment, and uniform requests, pulling product, packaging, and labeling boxes and for placing completed orders in the delivery area.
Responsible for assisting with the preparation, delivery, and distribution of supplies, equipment, and uniforms to Fire Rescue stations and facilities.
Assists with shipping and receiving, loading and unloading of trucks, checking in supplies, equipment, and uniforms and for sorting and placing stock and supplies on appropriate racks, shelves, or bins for storage.
Responsible for taking inventory and maintaining electronic records of supplies, equipment, and uniforms that are stored in the warehouse.
Maintains computerized inventory control records by collecting stock location orders, printing requests, and recording the amount of supplies, equipment, and uniforms received and distributed.
Participates and assists in periodic cycle counting and the physical inventory process.
Assists both internal and external customers by responding to supply, equipment and uniform inquiries and requests and also addresses issues, problems and/or concerns by phone, email or direct contact.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment by keeping shelves, aisle ways, storage and pallet areas, and work stations neat and organized. Also responsible for sweeping, dusting, and mopping work areas and emptying trash cans.
Performs general vehicle and equipment safety checks, such as lights, signals, fluids, tire pressure, etc. And is responsible for ensuring that all assigned vehicles and equipment are in good working order.
Repairs and performs general maintenance of small fire equipment, such as nozzles, adapters, and hose fittings.
Performs related work as required.

Job Requirements

One (1) year of warehouse and customer service experience.
Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.

Must possess or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver s license and maintain said license during the term of employment.
Must possess or obtain within six (6) months of employment, an OSHA compliant Forklift Operator certificate, meeting the requirements of CFR 1910.178.
In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster which may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.

Good knowledge of general warehouse functions and operations.
Good knowledge of the principles and methods of electronic inventory and recordkeeping.
Ability to operate various types of office equipment, such as copiers, fax machines and telephones.
Ability to utilize a personal computer, including Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel or similar software programs.
Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records and to perform a variety of related clerical tasks.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic.
Ability to follow County and departmental purchasing and records policies and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships with Fire Rescue staff, other governmental representatives, and the public.
Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in a variety of work situations, including problem-solving, conflict resolution and time management.
Ability to safely operate a forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment.
Ability to solve problems and take immediate remedial action when necessary.

This is moderate to heavy physical work.

The work is primarily in a warehouse environment and involves exposure to odors, noise, dust, moving machinery, and heat.
