Description
Responsible for performing manual labor and use tools and equipment required to care for and maintain the Golf Courses. General supervision is provided by the Golf Crew Leader or Golf Course Superintendent. May require light truck operation. Performs other work as required.

Examples of Duties
Operates grass cutting equipment.
Operates golf driving range ball picker.
Operates sod cutting equipment, picks up and lays sod.
Operates vertical cutting, top dressing, and aerating equipment.
Operates ditch digging and front-loader equipment.
Pushes walk-behind spreader to spread herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers, and grass seed.
Edges, rakes, and replenishes sand traps.
Trims trees.
Repairs netting around golf driving range.
Cuts new holes on putting greens and moves tee markers.
Maintains golf carts, both riding and pulled.
Cleans and services equipment.
Empties trash cans, fills golf ball washers, and replaces towels.
Performs custodial duties for course restrooms, and replaces tee towels.
Picks up trash and debris on course.
Repairs vandalism to grounds and buildings.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or G.E.D. Required.
1 year of experience in grounds maintenance.
Golf course experience preferred.
May be required to work weekends and holidays.
May be designated as Assigned Personnel and may be required to work during a declared emergency.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
State of Florida driver's license required. Applicants who possess a valid out of state driver s license must obtain the Florida driver s license within 10 days of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of tools and equipment used in grounds maintenance.
Knowledge of golf course maintenance procedures.
Knowledge of occupational safety rules and regulations.
Ability to operate hand and power tools.
Ability to operate light truck and mowers.
Ability to perform manual labor in all weather conditions.


Physical and Mental Requirements:
Ability to climb on and off motor-driven machinery.
Ability to make coordinated hand, eye, and foot movements.
Ability to reach out, squat, and turn.
Ability to make repeated downward thrusting motions with force.
Ability to pick-up and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Ability to reach up to 7 feet high lifting 20 lbs.
Ability to see and read letters, numbers, words, characters, or symbols.
Ability to comprehend simple tasks and remember them without assistance.
Ability to use small hand tools which require the use of hands, wrists, and fingers.
Ability to move back and forth and sideways while in a bending, kneeling, or squatting position.
Ability to stay in a bending, kneeling, or squatting position for periods less than 10 minutes.
Ability to go from a standing or sitting position to a bending, kneeling, or squatting position, or vice-versa, periodically.
Ability to walk, stand, and sit for periods longer than 30 minutes but not to exceed 8 hours consecutively.
Ability to lift, carry, push and pull items which weigh up to 50 pounds.
Ability to carry items for a distance which ranges from 10 feet to no more than 300 yards.
Ability to lift and/or carry items which are considered awkward to grasp or hold on to.
Ability to lift items (weighing less than 60 pounds) above the head or down from over the head.
Ability to hold items (weighing 1 to 40 pounds) for a period less than 10 minutes.
Ability to work in undesirable conditions including dust, dirt, fumes, odors, noise, wetness, humidity, hot and cold.
Ability to occasionally work at heights above 3 feet.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle such as a truck or van in a safe and efficient manner.
Ability to unload a vehicle with items weighing up to 50 lbs
