Good knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, and materials of a wide variety of mechanical trades
required for the operation and maintenance of water distribution, wastewater collection, and water and
wastewater treatment systems.
Good knowledge of basic safety rules and the principles of first aid.

Good knowledge in the use of personal computers, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, or other similar
software.
Some knowledge of the occupational and environmental hazards connected with the general operation,
maintenance, and repair of the mechanical and power-driven equipment associated with a water/wastewater
utility.
Some knowledge of water meters, fire hydrants, and backflow prevention devices.
Some knowledge of the operation and maintenance of wastewater pumping stations.
Ability to safely operate a backhoe, mini excavator, bobcat, or other similar heavy equipment.
Ability to perform chlorine residual and pH tests, or other similar routine chemical tests.
Ability to utilize internal software applications, including INFOR or other similar Computerized Maintenance
Management System (CMMS) electronic work order system, used for job scheduling, reporting, and planning.
Ability to work from written and/or verbal instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to work as part of a team.
