Oin our dynamic team as a Radio Frequency (RF) Technician and become a vital contributor to the development, installation, and maintenance of the cutting-edge RF communication systems for the County of Brevard Emergency Management.

In this energetic role, you will leverage your electrical engineering expertise and hands-on skills to ensure optimal performance of the Emergency Management electronic and radio frequency equipment.

This is a position working with the Brevard County Emergency Management Department and is your chance to show our client your exceptional skills and abilities, along with your reliability and professionalism- this position DOES have the possibility of being hired on by our client for the right candidate that has proven themselves and is able to pass all screening requirements.

We are seeking a radio technician to be trained in maintaining the Radio Frequency (RF) towers of the Brevard County Public Safety Radio System. In this role, the technician will be responsible for ensuring that the infrastructure supporting the public safety radio system operates efficiently.

A strong understanding of electrical systems, radio frequency, and safety protocols is essential, as is the ability to troubleshoot technical issues to ensure uninterrupted communication services.

Duties

Conduct monthly inspections and maintenance of tower sites, including servicing the compound, tower lights, alarms, generators, and HVAC systems

Maintain an inventory of all assets under the Public Safety Radio System, identify maintenance needs, and schedule repairs

Fix minor hardware issues and contact vendors for complex problems. Transport equipment to repair locations if necessary

Collaborate with vendors and service providers during maintenance, technical difficulties, installations, or in cases of radio interference

Ensure the security of the radio system against both malicious and accidental threats

Act as a liaison with vendors to ensure compliance with vendor-customer agreements

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a closely related field is required.

Additional qualifying experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of portable and mobile radios, microwave networks, satellite communication, routers, and switches
General knowledge of Land Mobile Radio (LMR) communications

Ability to set priorities effectively

Ability to maintain accurate records and reports on daily operations

Ability to analyze, diagnose, and resolve problems efficiently

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships


Special Requirements:

Must possess a valid driver's license before employment
